Asurion Collaborates With Far EasTone To Launch Handset Insurance In Taiwan

SINGAPORE 13 March 2006 - Asurion Asia Pacific, leading provider of mobile protection services for the wireless telecommunications industry, announced today its partnership with Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) to offer a free three month handset insurance program to all subscribers that purchased a new mobile phone. This service, already available from 22 February 2006, will protect subscribers from handset loss, theft or accidental damage.

In Taiwan, a significant number of mobile phones are lost, stolen or damaged each year and this incidence rate is expected to increase year on year. Research shows that up to 70% of Taiwan mobile users have experienced either accidental damage, lost or theft of their mobile phones.

"Taiwan is a key target market for Asurion as it has sophisticated mobile phone usage, one of the highest mobile penetration rates in the world and a significant incidence of mobile perils. FET has decided to offer the handset insurance service by making it free for three months to all its new and existing subscribers that purchased a mobile phone from now till 20 May 2006. On top of that, subscribers that sign up for the free handset insurance service can also take part in a lucky draw to win attractive prizes such as an iPod Video, Sony Cybershot camera or designer handbag. FET has also confirmed a subscriber paid handset insurance service priced at NT$120 per month will be offered later this year when the free promotion comes to an end.
