SINGAPORE, 16 June 2005 - Asurion Asia Pacific, leading provider of mobile protection services for the wireless industry, honored the achievements of companies and leaders in the mobile telecommunications industry at the Asian MobileNews Awards 2005, held on 15 June 2005, in collaboration with Charlton Media Group at the prestigious Tower Club in Singapore.
Independent and distinguished, the annual Asian MobileNews Awards recognized outstanding companies and individuals through nominations by the magazine's readers, which started in April 2005. There was a total of 32 awards given out for both the mobile operator and mobile phone segment this year. Besides highly anticipated awards like the "Asian Mobile Operator of The Year", "Mobile Operator CEO of The Year" and "Mobile Phone of the Year", there was a new award introduced for the first time this year - "Best Customer Retention Mobile Operator". This award recognized the mobile operator that has demonstrated an exceptional ability to retain customers through a customer retention strategy or program. Please see below for the full list of the award winners.
"It is critical for mobile operators to come up with novel ways to retain their customers in order to maintain market share and grow their bottom line in a competitive marketplace. Their long-term success is, in fact, dependent on their ability to keep customers on board.
